Twilight

I rarely read fiction. Sometimes I wish I read more, but then I remember once I start why I don’t do it all the time. I CAN’T STOP. I started reading the Twilight saga over Christmas break, and six weeks later I was finished with all four books. I don’t finish books that I don’t find engaging, and I become obsessive about books I do. And the Twilight books, for everything they are and aren’t, are definitely engaging. As people had told me beforehand, they aren’t great literature, but they are a good read. I wad admittedly hooked. I’m not Edward-obsessed like many others (I actually had a preference for Jake) and I found Bella a little annoying sometimes, but I can see why the books were so popular.

So after slightly neglecting the kids and Javad and household duties and correspondence with friends and family for six weeks, I have now reentered the world. It’s a bit begrudgingly, I admit. It’s fun to get lost in a story. But I have a hard time with moderation when it comes to a good read. So fiction will be put on the shelf again for a while. Maybe I’ll reread the Harry Potter series. At least I know how it all ends up so maybe I won’t be in such a hurry to get through it.
