Meet Annie

Hi! I’m Annie Reneau—mother to three children, passionate defender of my morning coffee, serious fan of chocolate and the Seahawks, and proud owner of this here blog. I write about the delights and disasters of motherhood with heartfelt honesty and humor, because there’s just no other way to do it. My writing has been featured on Scary Mommy, BlogHer, Simple Homeschool, Patheos, and Brilliant Star. If you’re interested in working with me, I can be reached at motherhoodandmore@gmail.com.

Still here and want to know more? Alrighty, here we go . . .

I have a fantabulous husband who does more than his fair share of cooking and mops all of our floors. (It pays to marry a janitorial contractor’s son, ladies.) We have three kids who are at once amazing, awesome, frustrating, irritating, goofy, messy, and miraculous (as all children are). You can meet them here.

I am a Bahá’í. I love my faith and enjoy sharing the joys and challenges of belonging to a minority religion. For example, delicious potlucks with fare from around the world = joy. Explaining to my kids why certain people might tell them they’re going to hell, despite the fact that we believe in Jesus = challenge. You can read a bit about my spiritual journey here.

I am a teacher. I used to teach other people’s high school kids English, but now I teach my own moppets everything. Well, not everything, but close. The reasons we chose to homeschool are outlined here

I’m also a writer for Brilliant Stara magazine that helps kids explore their roles as world citizens. Technically, my job title is “Assistant Editor,” but most of my job is writing and brainstorming. I love my job. Juggling it with everything else can be tricky, but I can’t imagine giving it up.

Our family spent a year during 2013-2014 living like nomads around the U.S. More about that here.

I love dark chocolate. If I die eating a See’s Dark Chocolate Bordeaux, I will die a happy woman. I don’t have a link for that. It’s just a fact.

  1. Imagine, I randomly selected this article. You’re a Baha’i too! Great article, while I agree that’s guns dont kill people there are still way to many guns in America.

  2. I thought everyone has lost their marbles !!!
Thanks for letting me know its not true .
Love you article first 1 I Have read this month that made sense.
    Keep them coming !!

  3. Hello Annie. I was in grade school at the time of the 1957 desegregation of Little Rock. The images from the evening news are still vivid memories after all these years. Shining a spotlight on that bigotry is (sadly) just as pertinent today. One fact to note: Dwight Eisenhower was still president in 1957, not Lyndon Johnson, who was sworn in on Air Force One after the assassination if JFK, November 1963. Another powerful moment that lives on just as vividly. Thank you for writing this article.

  4. OMG, it’s so unusual to find a Bahai blogger. My kids and husband are Bahai and I am a friend. I can’t wait to read through your blog.

  5. Hi Annie !

  6. Hi Annie-
I just found your blog…I am a new mom to an 11month old and stepmother to a 6 year old…and I’m a Baha’i too! So great to make this connection. I live in the Boston area and my parents and extended family have been really active in the faith for a long time. My father serving on the Regional Baha’i Council and my Uncle serving for National. Anyways, excited to have found your blog!
    Warm greetings 🙂
    Jillian

  7. Hi Annie,

I’m sure you don’t remember me, but I am a Baha’i who grew up in Selah. I used to be Talia Lindsley. I practically lived at the Reneau’s house and I remember your hubby being like a nice older brother to me (unlike my actual older brothers who were yucky at the time). Please say hello to him for me! I’m enjoying reading your blog and I hope your family is doing well!

    Take care,
    Talia
