I Scream, You Scream

Yesterday we had the day off for Naw-Ruz, so we took full advantage of the 60 degree weather. There’s something so Americana about going out for ice cream on a warm day. Even when it’s not really ice cream, but Italian gelato.

Naturally, I went for two variations of chocolate – Cookies ‘n’ Cream and Chocolate Mint. Yum. (I’m still waiting for someone to invent a chocolate IV drip. Let me know if you hear anything.)

Dolittle chose a caramel/chocolate/vanilla concoction called “Donatella.” As in Versace.

(That’s a Saturday Night Live reference from back when I actually watched it. Maya Rudolph playing Donatella Versace. It’s funny if you’ve seen it. It’s also the only reason I know who Donatella Versace is.)

Since The Muse took herself off of dairy several months ago, she got lemon and raspberry sorbet. This place makes the best sorbet ever. I don’t know how they get it so creamy without milk.

BoyWonder defied all the rules of the universe by refusing ice cream. I’m not quite sure how that happened. He’s normally an ice cream freak. He calls it “I CREEEE!” (Just like that. Always with the caps and exclamation point.) I questioned him thoroughly to make sure he wasn’t some sneaky two-year-old impostor. He checked out alright. Perhaps he was just put off by the word “gelato.”

He had his own fun polishing his expertise on the stairs, though. Stairs are a very big deal when you’re two.

Aw, look at my little family. Aren’t they cute? It’s hard to believe each of those three moppets started out as a wee little egg in my belly. And here they are all walking around out in the world, eating gelato.

Life is just miraculous. 🙂

  1. Yes, Dolittle does have quite her own fashion sense. 🙂 Oh, and by the way, the girls’ hair is wet because we’d just gone swimming at the Y. I just looked at the pics again and realized it looks like my kids are a couple of grease monkeys.
