Us Lately

I haven’t blogged nearly as much as I’d like to lately, so here’s a whirlwind synopsis of what’s been shaking around here:

– The Muse and I have thrown together a fall festival we’re calling “Pumple Fest.” (Pumpkin + Apple = Pumple). We’re inviting everyone we know to come stop by next Saturday for all kinds of pumpkin and apple goodies to celebrate these awesome days of fall. Very exciting.

– The Muse has a cold that keeps trying to turn feverish, so we’re doing our best to keep her healthy for Pumple Fest.

– I appear to have a pregnancy condition called Symphysis Pubic Dysfunction, which is just as much fun as it sounds. Basically, the spreading of my pelvic bones combined with the relaxin hormone that comes along with it is causing severe pain in my lady parts. It basically feels like someone has kicked me really hard where it counts. It’s ridiculously uncomfortable. Standing or walking for any period of time exacerbates the discomfort, and sitting for too long makes my lower back ache. So I have to pick which pain I feel like having an act accordingly. Fun times. Only three months left. Oi.

– Because of this pain, I’ve taken to using the electronic shopping carts when I go to the store. You know, the little old lady carts. Havarti thinks it’s hilarious. I think it’s the greatest invention ever.

– Havarti is now working from home four days a week, which is awesome. It saves him so much time commuting, not to mention the gas costs, and we get to have lunch with him. It’s a grand set-up and I hope it lasts.

– The Muse gave a presentation on Abe Lincoln’s childhood at a homeschool gathering a couple of weeks ago and did smashingly. She handles nerves very well. Havarti says she gets that from me. Sure, I’ll take it. ☺

– Dolittle is learning to read, and it’s so fun to be a part of. I’m so proud of her, and she’s so proud of herself. Her little brain is really kicking into high gear. One of the great things about homeschooling is getting to see all of these learning moments up close.

That’s enough for now. Gotta pry myself up off the couch and go make some dinner for these sweet people.
